Instrumented Stairs

Force-Sensing Stairs

AMTI’s removable force plate stairs isolate the forces and moments generated during four consecutive steps and transfers them to one of two underlying force plates. The stairway uses an innovative nesting design to alternate the platform to which each step is connected, so that no two consecutive steps transfer to the same force plate.

Key Features

Solid top force plates available in our 40×60 or 46×51 cm standard sizes can be made to accept a stairway, which is attached to threaded inserts on the top surfaces of the platforms. The standard stairway design features 23.8″ wide steps, each with a 7″ rise and 10.4″ run.

Versatile Force Plates

When the stairs are not in use or not required for the study at hand, they can simply be detached via through-top mounting bolts from the underlying force plates. The embedded force plates can then be used for a wide variety of other applications, such as balance, gait, running, and more.

Multi- purpose embedded force platforms enable instrumented stairs

Attach AMTI's force-sensing Instrumented Stairs to two embedded force plates for use in stair climbing or descent applications. Otherwise, remove the stairs and use the force plates as normal for walking gait, running, jumping, and more.
